NXT UK Recap for July 3, 2019: Clean-Shaven Mountain
By Jeremy Klein
Wrestling-related developments that involve zero wrestling on this episode
Kassius Ohno gives an exclusive interview where he declares NXT UK to be in a state of emergency. Good thing he’s there to preserve the legacy of all British Wrestling. He gives due to British Strong Style and Wolfgang, four of the NXT UK “founding fathers,” but stops short of praising the fifth, Mark Andrews. Actually, he doesn’t like Andrews at all, much as he seems to hate all millennials capable of jumping off the top rope.
Ohno calls Andrews a “follower” and an inauthentic British wrestler, assuming Andrews only uses the superkick because of Shawn Michaels and not because of its true innovator, Chris Adams, a British wrestler. On the other hand, Ohno considers himself to be the best British wrestler in the world. Have to assume this won’t go over well with Andrews.
Kenny Williams attempts to give an interview explaining why he stuck his nose into Noam Dar’s match last week. Only, before he can explain himself, he gets attacked by Dar who shoves his face into the mud. So disrespectful!
Elsewhere, Gallus invite a cameraman into their trailer to talk about how they’re going to destroy Dave Mastiff and The Hunt next week. They then kick the cameraman out. Rude!
We see a brief recap of Ilja Dragunov’s two matches and the incalculable amount times he’s smacked himself in the face. He’ll be back in action next week.
Also back in action next week, Toni Storm. We don’t know who she’ll be up against, but presumably Kay Lee Ray is going to find a way to get involved and potentially disrupt things. Or maybe Storm will just win easily and then cut another promo about Toni Time and the “Shiny-Shiny.” Time will tell.
That does it for this week’s NXT UK recap. What does Imperium’s assault on Moustache Mountain mean for the beloved team’s future? Is Piper Niven versus Jazzy Gabert the next marquee women’s match? Will Jack Starz ever get his chance to shine?
