MLB DFS – Time to stack:

If we decide to drop down to Pomeranz as an SP2 along side Mr. deGrom, all of a sudden we get a whole lot of salary to spend and some big bats enter our player pool that were not possible with Verlander in our way.

Mookie Betts and JD Martinez are priority plays if you spend down at SP2 today as their match-up with LHP Gregory Soto screams upside. Soto has given up a .319 ISO to RHB this season and Betts and JD have .250+ ISO marks against LHP since the start of 2018. Martinez specifically profiles exceptionally well as Soto throws a sinker nearly 30% of the time to RHB and JD has destroyed that pitch with a .407 ISO mark 51.5% HC rate making him my top bat of the day.

While the Mets season has unraveled thus far due in large part to their horrendous bullpen, the offense has been a bright spot nearly all season long and with the wind blowing out at Citi Field and RHP Vince Velasquez on the hill – a Mets stack is firmly in play here today.

Velasquez is arguably one of the worst arms on the slate tonight – sporting a .220+ ISO marks to hitters from both sides of the plate with massive 50% fly ball rates and hard contact rates to right-handed hitters.

Going back to last season however, it has been the lefties that have hammered VV, with a .236 ISO and with a lefty heavy top of the line-up including Jeff McNeil, Michael Conforto, Robinson Cano and Dominic Smith to deal with – the recent struggles for Velasquez could continue here today.

Since moving back into the starting rotation three outings ago, Velasquez has a 47% fly ball rate and 48% hard contact rate – relying on essentially a two pitch mix of fastball and slider. With the struggles in 2019 against RHB, going full on stack here and including Pete Alonso and his .299 ISO mark against RHP this season also works into the profile as Alonso has .343 ISO and average distance of 350+ feet on sliders from RHP this season.

With tonight being Seinfeld Night at Citi Field and a Seinfeld bobble head in play, these Mets are real and they are Amazin! (NARRATIVE ALERT)!
