Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – DraftKings Early

SP – Max Fried – Atlanta Braves – $6,500

Fading Scherzer at home against the struggling Kansas City Royals on this short six game slate seems like a bad move at this point, so we are going to need an SP2 that will allow us to get some bats in out lineup. Max Fried at under $7K against the Marlins seems a little low. He struggled a bit in his last start against the Mets, and even though he is averaging just 11 DK points per start, he has posted two 20+ DK point outings in his last three starts.

Fried is 9-3 at this point, but he is getting hit a bit with a 4.04 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. However, he should at least improve on these numbers, as he gets a home start against maybe the worst offense in baseball, the Miami Marlins. In a June 9th start back in Miami against the Fish, Fried notched a quality start allowing three runs through six innings, while striking out seven, and posting 17.3 DK points. I will take that for $6,500 today.

2B – Jason Kipnis – Cleveland Indians – $3,600

Not only do I not like recommending Indians, Kipnis is in the no-play zone more often than not. Once again, this goes back to the fact the Tribe will face DeSclafani in a humid, hitters ballpark. The 32-year-old veteran Kipnis is struggling quite a bit this year with a .235 batting average, but he is still hitting in the heart of this order in a very favorable spot this afternoon.

My only argument against him this afternoon is the value depth at the position. With Scherzer in the lineup, we made need some Rays. They are quite a bit cheaper, and they will be coming up on the last slide today.
