How do the Sixers look for DFS after the NBA Free Agency period?

Now we move onto the next course – a nice fat rib eye steak with a side of sweet potato and broccoli…mmm my favorite. Speaking of favorites, I have Philly pegged to win the East this coming season but they are going to be a little tough to figure out from a fantasy / DFS perspective. Much like Golden State was often maddening with too many stars to pick who would put up fantasy points, Philly now has Horford on the team. I know they had Jimmy Butler last year but they were still tough to play at times and weren’t consistent DFS producers aside from Embiid.

Horford is probably going to play as a stretch 4 so he won’t get rebounds like he used to but I anticipate his 3pt shooting to increase. Embiid may see a load management philosophy as they look to preserve him from being too tired like he was against Toronto. Simmons isn’t getting a reliable jump shot anytime soon and the addition of Josh Richardson is interesting as he’s a lanky guy who can handle the ball and defend well. I’m not sure if he’ll start or lead the second unit. If it’s the latter, he could be a very sneaky fantasy point producer. Tobias Harris is one of my favorite “perennially underrated” guys but he almost always ends up being too expensive to play in DFS.

The Nets are going to be a contender in the East as well but probably more so in 2020 with a healthy KD rather than this year. This upcoming season, Kyrie is going to put up a TON of shots for this team and will be a nice value on occasion. Sometimes he’ll be overpriced, not produce well, or sit out a few games, then will be an excellent buy low candidate on the right night. I’m also expecting Julius Randle to be a stat sheet stuffer for the Knicks. So often we get fantasy gems on really terrible teams…be sure to keep that in mind.

The Celtics got worse but a good consolation prize is getting Kemba who is great and had a really excellent year. Boston fans are kidding themselves though if they think he’s better than Kyrie. I’ll be really curious as to how that situation plays out and if the young bloods Tatum and Brown try to overstep in their need to step up. Kanter is going to have to play big minutes with the loss of Horford and Baines. From a fantasy perspective, that’s excellent news for us. He’s horrendous on defense so he’s good to target against and he’s also a very talented offensive rebounder and scorer so there will be plenty of nights we should be looking to plug him in.
