Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Tier Picks: ($11,000+)

Viktor Hovland – $11,600 – (GPP)

There is no need to freak out about pricing this week. With the lack of any golfers in the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), this was expected or at least should have been. We have six golfers in this price range this week, and while they all have different upside, none are grabbing my attention more than Hovland.

Matthew Wolff will likely get some love around the industry coming off of his win last week, but Hovland has been the more consistent of the two in the early goings, and my guess here is that Wolff will still be riding the high of the victory, while Hovland will still be hungry.

My opinion on this top-tier is as follows, I will play at least two golfers in this range, but I am leaning towards a balanced approach this week. Certainly someone in this price range could seal the deal and grab a victory, but without a “proven” type in this range, my strategy will be to avoid this tier, at least for cash games, and limit my exposure for GPP. With back-to-back T-13’s, Hovland is my top play this week.

Brian Harman – $11,000 – (GPP)

Normally I am all about these rookies every week, but the fact that they are priced up, and will likely have eyes all over them this week, I am going to scale it back a bit. It is hard to believe we have golfers like Brian Harman, Lucas Glover, and Charles Howell III priced over $11K, but as I mentioned to start, we almost need to throw pricing out the window this week when it comes to the top plays.

Harman has been up-and-down for the most part all year, but he comes into TPC Deere Run this week off of a T-7 at the 3M Open, where he shot a bogey-free 65 on Sunday. He has missed just one cut in his last six events, and has two top-tens in his last three. Harman skipped the John Deere Classic last year, but he T-10 in 2017, and is a past champion here as well, notching victory in 2014.

Do I think Harman is a better golfer than Wolff or Collin Morikawa? Probably not. But with this field, I think we will need a handful of veterans in our lineups this week. Lucas Glover seems like an easy fade, and Morikawa being the most expensive golfer on the slate seems a bit off. Harman has the combination of course history and recent form working for him this week, and he is borderline cash game safe as well in my opinion.

***Also Consider: Charles Howell III – $11,300***
