Steven Bergwijn

Just 21 years old, Steven Bergwijn is another young winger squarely on Bayern Munich’s radar this summer. Bergwijn is a superior backup option to a different winger Bayern were once targeting in Yannick Carrasco, since it’s actually feasible for him to be a top signing at the position.

Ideally, Bayern would sign someone on Ousmane Dembele or Sane’s level, but that might not be in the budget following the record 80 million euro fee sent to Atletico Madrid for Lucas Hernandez.

Bergwijn was sixth in the Dutch Eredivisie last season in goals and assists per 90 (minus penalties), scoring 14 times and finishing as among the league’s leading assisters with 12. He did this while being PSV Eindhoven’s third-leading scorer behind Luuk de Jong and Hirving Lozano.

Ready to take the next step in his career, Bergwijn could be a good fit for a club like Bayern, since it’s only a matter of time before he signs with one of Europe’s powerhouse clubs.

Bergwijn has such a brilliant mind for playing the perfect killer pass, so he would join Sane as ideal options for setting up goals for striker Robert Lewandowski. And with 14 goals of his own, Bergwijn showed that he’s also capable of finding the back of the net.
