Bayern Munich: Leroy Sane and 5 other wingers to target this summer
Ousmane Dembele
There seem to be concerns about Ousmane Dembele’s attitude, perhaps because of the way he left Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in order to pursue a bigger challenge with FC Barcelona, but those seem to be either exaggerated or irrelevant.
If there’s any red flag with Dembele, it would be his injuries. He’s only played 2,000 minutes once since breaking out in 2015, and those minutes came as a Bundesliga Player of the Year candidate with Dortmund in 2016.
The injury concerns have to be kept in context, since Dembele did appear in 37 games in all competitions last season after having been a part of France’s World Cup winning squad.
But when a nine-figure transfer fee is in the cards, any injury concerns will be picked apart for a young player who is supposed to be a superstar for years to come.
Dembele has as much upside as any player Bayern could conceivably purchase, so that alone makes him one of the most intriguing signings.
His history with Dortmund shows that he can play at an elite level in the Bundesliga, as he scored six times and assisted 12 times as a member of the Black and Yellow.
Bayern already have a star winger with injury concerns in Kingsley Coman, but Dembele has even more technical quality and goal-scoring ability than his countryman.
If Barcelona decide to sell Neymar and feel pressed to sell Dembele, thus reducing their asking price, then this could be the best deal if Sane is unavailable.
