Fantasy Football Rankings: QB Strength of schedule
Matt Ryan (10) – I’m going, to be honest, Matt Ryan could legit be an MVP this season. Barely making it into the top-10 for SOS, the main thing to mention for Ryan in 2019 is that 13 of his 16 games this season are in a dome.
Per Scott Barrett of PFF, Ryan averages almost 4 more fantasy points per game in domes. It’s worth mentioning that he now has two new offensive linemen in Chris Lindstrom and Kaleb McGary to buy Ryan time while he airs it out to Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Mohammed Sanu, and Austin Hooper.
Even though he’s currently being drafted as the QB6 overall, I still feel like he is currently going too late in drafts right now.
Drew Brees (11) – Entering the season at 40-years old, it’s nice to see the veteran Drew Brees in the upper half of the SOS. His season starts out tough with the Texans, Rams, Seahawks, and Cowboys the first month of the season.
After an easy matchup against the Buccaneers, he then gets the Jaguars, Bears, and the Cardinals before the bye week. It does get better after the bye week where the majority of his tough matchups are behind him.
I’m still not a believer in this defense so I believe that Brees and the likes of Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray, Michael Thomas, Trequan Smith Ted Ginn Jr, and Jared Cook, will have to put out points week in and week out to stay one of the top teams in the NFC.
Josh Allen (12) – The 2nd year QB wasn’t the best real-life QB but he sure was a dynamite fantasy QB. From weeks 12-17, he was the QB1 overall in that 6-week span. He has a chance to put the league on notice the first 5 weeks before bye-week this season, facing the Jets, Giants, Bengals, Patriots, and the Titans.
I’m excited to see what Allen does in 2019 because he succeeded last year with Zay Jones and Robert Foster as his only weapons. This offseason the Bills added slot receiver Cole Beasley and speedster John Brown.
Another new weapon to keep your eye on rookie TE Dawson Knox, who’s draft stock exploded after an impressive combine. With a full offseason as the clear-cut starter, Allen could be dangerous this year with his cannon of an arm.
