Marta remains one of the NWSL’s best players, and she provided a moment of magic for the Orlando Pride in the league’s first televised game on ESPNEWS this season.

Soccer fans can now watch the NWSL on ESPNEWS for the remainder of the 2019 season, and the first televised game took place on Sunday afternoon when the Orlando Pride took on the Portland Thorns.

Although Portland jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two key mistakes at the back from Orlando’s defense, Marta got her team right back in the match with a fabulous goal in the 61st minute.

This was an absolute hammer from outside the box from Marta, who smashed this perfectly into the upper right-hand corner of the net. That’s the “High 90,” and there was simply no way this shot could have been placed any better by the Brazilian legend.

Marta is fresh off of leading Brazil to the World Cup knockout stages in France, and she also set the record for the most goals in World Cup history by any player, regardless of gender. She is a living legend, and this wonder goal from outside the box is yet another testament to her world-class ability.

Another cool aspect of this goal was the celebration. Marta scored one of the best goals of the month, yet she celebrated like it was business as usual. For her, that’s exactly the case; it’s yet another hammer from outside the box to add to her collection.

Marta’s goal cut the Portland Thorns’ lead down to 2-1, and it occurred three minutes after rising star Midge Purce gave Orlando 2-0 deficit after pouncing on a mistake. Portland’s first goal came in the third from another star player in Australian international Hayley Raso, who, like Marta, appeared in the knockout stages of the World Cup. Raso’s goal was also the result of an Orlando mistake on defense.
