FanDuel MLB – Top Third Basemen

Top Play: Nolan Arenado | COL | $4,700

Typically we target Arenado against southpaws, but the matchup in Coors field is too hard to ignore. Even without the platoon advantage, Arenado is posting a 0.374 wOBA and 0.229 ISO on the year in R/R matchups and Dereck Rodriguez, has only struck out 13.8% of righties he’s faced this season.

There may not be a dying need to pay up for Arenado with a phenomenal value play below (if he starts), but if you have the salary, there’s not much, if any, downside to doing so.

Value Play: Pablo Sandoval | SFG | $2,900

There’s not 100% certainty on whether or not Sandoval will start, but the fact that he’s been outperforming Longoria at the dish only strengthens his case. Against righties this season, Sandoval has posted a 0.367 wOBA and 0.289 ISO.

Chi Chi Gonzalez‘s struggles against lefties (0.441 wOBA, 53.8% hard-contact rate) only make this play even better. If active, Sandoval is my top value play on the entire slate.

Honorable Mention(s): Rafael Devers, Jose Ramirez, Evan Longoria (if starting), Matt Carpenter
