FanDuel MLB – Top Shortstops

Top Play: Trevor Story | COL | $4,600

This echoes the Arenado blurb so we can keep this nice and short. Dereck Rodriguez does not miss bats, especially against righties. On top of that, Story himself has posted a 0.396 wOBA and 0.295 ISO against righties on the season.

With Story’s main downfall being the strikeouts (26.4%), the fact that Rodriguez is incapable of missing bats negates a whole lot of the downside here and makes Story one of the top overall plays on the slate.

Value Play: Brandon Crawford | SFG | $3,000

While I intend to pay up for Story IF I have the salary, I also plan to lock Crawford into either my SS or UTIL spot for this price. Not only is he hot at the dish (5-game hitting streak, 12.4+ FDP in 4 of last 5), but he’s priced at a ridiculously cheap tag in Coors Field.

The Rockies are expected to roll out Chi Chi Gonzalez this evening, who has allowed as many walks as he has strikeouts this season (14.3% rate on each) and has allowed a 0.441 wOBA to lefties. Crawford is not exactly the fringe All-Star that he used to be, but this matchup and park factor are too enticing to pass up.
