Fantasy Football: Pre-Draft Tight End Rankings

10. Evan Engram (New York Giants)

2018 Stats: 45 Receptions | 577 Yards | 3 TDs | 12.8 YPC

If your only weapon on offense is Saquon Barkley then you may be in line for a boost in some usage. Evan Engram was on the field for 69% of the snaps and 32% of those were played in the slot. He was targeted 7 times in the red zone and 5 targets in the end zone.

He also ranked seventh in fantasy points at the tight end position with 11.3 points per game. The Giants and Eli Manning don’t have a “real” weapon at the wide receiver position but Engram may be able to be just that if his play becomes consistent. He was able to finish his 2018 campaign on a high note with 4 straight games of 10 fantasy points or more also.

9. Vance McDonald (Pittsburgh Steelers)

2018 Stats: 50 Receptions | 610 Yards | 4 TDs | 12.2 YPC

Vance McDonald has the chance to be a weapon for Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers as they are down another weapon on offense with the departure of Antonio Brown. He only saw 57% of the snaps on offense last season but he did get the opportunity of seeing 10 targets in the red zone and 6 targets in the end zone.

McDonald saw about 44.6 passing plays per game and over half of them he ran a route. McDonald is a tight end you can move up on your boards some what but he’s not one to reach for as his play has yet to stay consistent.

8. David Njoku (Cleveland Browns)

2018 Stats: 56 Receptions | 639 Yards | 4 TDs | 11.4 YPC

What a time to be alive as a Browns fan as the front office has seemed to put together a young and dangerous core finally. David Njoku was in for 84% of the snaps and averaged 38 passing plays per game with 71% of those being for routes.

He saw 8 targets in the red zone and the end zone. He averaged 9.6 fantasy points per game ranking him 10th out of the tight end position. The Cleveland Browns have became even more dangerous with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. which gives Baker Mayfield multiple threats to use.

7. Hunter Henry (Los Angeles Chargers)

2018 Stats: Out With ACL Injury

Hunter Henry suffered the unfortunate injury of tearing his ACL during the preseason and missed the entire 2018 season. Los Angeles Charger fans are excited for what Henry can do especially with the pending retirement of Antonio Gates.

In 2017 Henry put up 579 yards with 4 touchdowns while averaging 12.9 yards per catch. He currently holds an ADP of 46.91 but he’s not someone to reach up for.

6.Eric Ebron (Indianapolis Colts)

2018 Stats: 66 Receptions | 750 Yards | 13 TDs | 11.4 YPC

A healthy Andrew Luck has turned the Indianapolis Colts in to a threat and has turned Eric Ebron into one also. Ebron was only in for 56% of the offensive snaps lasts season but was a huge target in the red zone with 21 targets and had 16 targets in the end zone.

In the 16 games that Ebron played in, he was only below 10 fantasy points in 6 games. Ebron also ranked 4th in fantasy points at the tight end position averaging 13.9 points per game.
