MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Cheap Arm/SP2

Joe Musgrove (8.3k FD, 5.8k DK) @ St. Louis

Either Draftkings or FanDuel really messed up Musgrove’s price tonight, which one got it right is yet to be seen. My man the MusGOAT is my favorite SP2 play on DK tonight and I may not even roster him on FanDuel based on this major price discrepancy.

Musgrove will face the Cardinals tonight on the road, a team that I like to pick on with right-handers when I get the chance. I admit that they have been hitting the ball better lately, but their offensive numbers are still mediocre at best. Meanwhile, Musgrove has strung together 4 pretty good starts in a row against good competition (Houston, Chicago, Milwaukee, and San Diego). His overall numbers won’t jump out at you, but Joe is a fierce competitor and a guy that can gut out 6 good innings on any given night even without any dominant pitches.

He was touched up for 8 earned runs by this Cardinals team back in early May, which is alarming. However, you’re going to find another pitcher of his caliber down below 6k tonight on Draftkings. He may end up being the chalk SP2 over there tonight, but I’m okay with eating this chalk if it allows me to stack the game in Coors.
