Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Value Picks (Below $9,000)

Erik Van Rooyen – $8,600 – (GPP)

If you are a novice golf fan or maybe just a DFS player first, you may not have heard much about Van Rooyen in the past. The 29-year-old South African native who played his college golf in the U.S. at the University of Minnesota is primarily a European Tour player, and his game is currently peaking. He is yet to win on either tour, but he has knocked on the door twice in 2019 overseas with a pair of T-2 finishes.

Van Rooyen did not make the field for the Masters, but if his hame is starting to sound familiar, you may remember him from his T-8 at the PGA Championship. Since that first career top-ten in a major championship, Van Rooyen has played in six events with mixed results.

He has missed two cuts, but he took a T-20 at the RBC Canadian Open into Pebble Beach, and was able to hang at least a little bit with a T-43 at the U.S. Open. EVR was in the final pairing on Sunday at the Scottish Open, and that first victory looked oh-so close once again. However, a blow-up hole where he whiffed on a shot in the thickest stuff surrounding a bunker that I have ever seen led to a quadruple-bogey, and a T-14 finish.

I do not think he is cash game safe by any means, but could he could be a great source of salary relief to help you roster Koepka or McIlroy if you desire. Of all of the plays in the mid-8K range, Van Rooyen has the most upside by far in my opinion on this track.
