MLB DFS – Building Our Bats:

Let’s not pretend there is any other place to start here tonight with our bats than Coors Field and while the nightcap was a massive let down on Monday, any time there is a lefty in Coors – the first two guys in my builds are going to be Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado.

When you factor in that the opposing lefty is Drew Pomeranz, a pitcher with a .275 ISO mark to RHB this season, Story and Arenado simply become building block type plays that you ignore ownership and just lock-in.

Since the start of 2018, the Rockies have 5 of their top 6 bats in the line-up with .200+ ISO marks against LHP with Arenado leading the crew at a massive .348 clip but with Story at .284 and Ian Desmond at .265, there is a path here to an all-in stack or a mini three-man righty based build to go against Pomeranz’s struggles with RHB.

Much like Monday Night, this offensive slate comes back to the same two teams for me – the Rockies and Dodgers. After bludgeoning Zach Eflin and the Phillies bullpen last night, the Dodgers left-handed heavy roster gets to face-off with another RHP who struggles with lefties in Vincent Velazquez.

VV has given up a .255 ISO mark to LHB since the start of 2018 and the same trio we mentioned yesterday – Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson and Max Muncy – all have .280+ ISO marks against RHP since the start of last season.

At home versus LHB this season, Velazquez as given up 3.2 HR/9 and a 60% fly-ball rate which when you are throwing your fastball nearly 70% of the time to LHB at the Major League level is likely a reason for the bloated metrics.

A Dodgers/Rockies core is once again front and center here today in all formats!
