MLB DFS Pitching Plays – Mid-Range Plays

Chris Paddack – Speaking of pitchers with great fastballs, Paddack has one of the best in the league. The only problem has been against LHH, and luckily, Miami has very few in the projected lineup. Against RHH, Paddack has a 32.7% K rate, 40% GB, and 45% HC. Miami has well over 50% GB as a team, and only 34% HC. These numbers are huge for Paddack, and really add a boost to his run prevention stats.

Pitch Mix – As mentioned earlier, Paddack has an amazing fastball, and he uses it over 55% of the time, then he has a change, and curve. The whiffs are down on his pitches, but so is the ISO against them. The fastball moves over ten inches vertically and sits at around 95 MPH. Miami has a very low ISO and a very high GB rate against his fastball. I fully expect the whiffs to come back as well, especially after a few solid performances recently, Paddack has a lot of upside today.

Eduardo Rodriguez – Oh E Rod, the ultimate tease of the DFS world is back in action today. He is a reverse splits pitcher, meaning as an LHP he has far worse numbers against LHH. This is huge for Rodriguez today, considering he should see mostly righties. Against RHH, he has a .134 ISO, 24% K rate, 44% GB, and 27% HC. The Blue Jays have a 24% K rate, and do worse against LHP, hitting more GB than normal.

Pitch Mix – E Rod uses the fastball almost 50% of the time, then the change, mixing in the cutter, and sinker. The whiffs on his fastball and change are over 30%, with all of his pitches getting over 50% GB, except for the fastball. He has solid movement on his pitches, and Toronto has very high GB, and good whiffs on his best pitch which is the change. At this price, E Rod is a great GPP play.
