Daily Fantasy Baseball: Top Value Plays – DraftKings

SS – Didi Gregorius – New York Yankees – $3,600

Moving on to DraftKings today, first I might as well address the elephant in the room. SP2 does not look an obvious choice today for cash games, and on top of that, there is little value below $4K on this slate. My first instinct was to pay up for Noah Syndergaard or Madison Bumgarner to go along with Bauer, but unless we get some surprises in some lineups, I just do not see it happening with any good bats. If you start your DK lineup with Bauer and Thor, you will have just over $3,700 remaining per player. It can be done, but good luck with that on this slate.

That brings me to Didi. The Yankees will play a double-dip tomorrow with the Rays, and while I am not a big fan of rostering guys on the second half of one, Gregorius showed some signs of life by belting an eighth-inning grand slam Tuesday night. He has struggled when healthy for the most part all season, and the match-up will be tough against Charlie Morton, but unless I can find the $4,400 for Lindor, I will go with the value here. Despite the grand slam, Didi is just 2-for-15 through four games since the break.

1B – Joey Votto – Cincinnati Reds – $3,700

Another guy I normally hate playing in Daily Fantasy Baseball, but cheap Reds lefties against Dakota Hudson on the road in a hitters park is something I can get behind. The Reds that have been hitting better are a little higher priced, as is the case normally with DraftKings, but this top of this lineup could offer up some much-needed value.

Votto is still struggling on the season hitting just .257 with eight homers and only 23 RBI’s, and if you had hoped he would pick it up a bit after the break, he is yet to do so thus far. The Reds started the second half with a series against the Rockies at Coors Field, and a long game on Saturday night with a delay led to Votto getting a day off on Sunday, after a 2-for-6 night. I do like Jesse Winker in this match-up against Hudson as well, especially if he is at the top of the lineup, as he is another solid value play here on DraftKings at $4K.
