MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Cash Game Ace (Main)

Trevor Bauer (10.8k FD, 11k DK) vs. Detroit

Bauer is the top cash-game play on the slate, hands down. He’s a -200 home favorite against one of the weakest offenses against right-handed pitching in baseball. He will be chalky in cash games and I would advise you to eat that chalk and don’t try to get cute. I could probably stop there, but I’d like to give you a little more insight as to why I like @BauerOutage tonight.

Bauer has had mixed results against the Tigers this year with his range of outcomes being everything from a complete game shutout with 8 strikeouts to a 4-inning outing in which he surrendered 5 runs on 10 hits. But here’s what we know we are getting with Bauer – strikeouts. In 19 innings against the Tigers, he’s racked up 21 strikeouts. He does have the potential to walk too many guys and then give up some hits, but with Bauer, you know that he is trying to strike every batter out, every time.

We just saw his teammate Mike Clevinger rack up 12 strikeouts in 6 innings last night and Bauer’s got a solid 27% K rate of his own. He’s also much better against righties and the Tigers have very lefties to throw at him. Lock him into your cash games and don’t overthink this one!
