MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Top GPP Pivot

Noah Syndergaard (9.2k both sites) @ San Francisco

I have to be honest, I have not used “Thor” often this season as he has underachieved for most of the year. But tonight feels like the perfect spot to deploy him and he has flashed his ceiling a few times this year just to remind us what he is capable of doing.

First of all, he’s in good form, coming off a great outing against Miami (I know, it’s the Marlins) in which he struck out 9 over 7 innings. He should have some confidence coming into today’s game, which is a positive matchup for him as the Giants despite their recent hot streak, still grades out as a mediocre offensive club.

Syndy gets to face the Giants in their big ballpark and gets them coming home from a trip to Coors. I’ve talked about the “Coors effect” here before, but basically, the idea is that hitters tend to struggle to readjust to how breaking balls move more at lower elevation after spending 3-4 days in Denver. When you combine the price, park factor, and the Coors Effect together I love Thor tonight in GPPs and I think a lot of DFS players will be gunshy to use him based on his lack of consistency this season.
