No. 2 Cornerback

During the 2018 NFL season, cornerback Gareon Conley emerged as not only the top player at his position on the Raiders roster, but one of the best in the division. Once he got going in the second half of the season, Conley was a shut-down cornerback for the team, and heads into Year No. 3 as a legitimate CB1 at the NFL level.

It is behind Conley where the water gets murky, as there are a couple of guys who could step up into the CB2 role heading into the 2019 season. This offseason, the team made a commitment to Daryl Worley, a young cornerback who got a ton of experience last season, and showed that he has the raw ability to be a solid cornerback for this team moving forward.

Nick Nelson was a fourth round pick of the team in 2018, and battled injury last season, but he is a talented player as well. In addition, the team brought in Nevin Lawson via free agency this offseason, and the expectation is that he is going to fight for a big-time role on this defense this summer.

Lamarcus Joyner played safety for the Los Angeles Rams, but the Raiders like him to be the slot corner in Paul Guenther’s defense in 2019. During the 2019 NFL Draft, Oakland spent a second round pick on Trayvon Mullen from Clemson, who did not allow a touchdown in college, and may be the second-most  talented cornerback on this roster this season.
