Left Guard

During the offseason, the Oakland Raiders traded away Kelechi Osemele to the New York Jets, leaving a big hole at the left guard position. Early on, it looked like team may decide to move Gabe Jackson over to the left side, but that proved to be hearsay, as he will remain the Raiders starting right guard for the sixth season.

Richie Incognito was brought in a few weeks back to fill the left guard role, but last week, it was announced that he will miss the first two games of the 2019 season due to suspension. That means that the starting left guard spot is wide open heading into camp, and there are a few names to keep an eye on.

The first is Denzelle Good, who was brought over to the team last season, and played very well when Jackson and Osemele went down via injury. On Monday, the Raiders also signed former first round pick Jonathan Cooper to a deal, and if he can stay healthy, he is definitely someone who showed he can perform at a high level in the league.

Outside of Good and Cooper, the Raiders also have an undrafted rookie free agent to keep an eye on in Lester Cotton Sr. This is a kid who was a downright mauler during his time at Alabama, and for the Raiders, he could be one of those sleeper rookies who comes out of nowhere to earn his spot on this roster this summer.
