MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Draftkings Value SP2s

***NOTE: THESE PITCHERS CAN BE USED ON FANDUEL, TOO, THEY ARE JUST BETTER VALUES ON DK.

J.A. Happ (6.4k) vs. Colorado

Happ is not a pitcher I have used all that often this season. His skills have diminished a bit over the last few years and he’s been rather inconsistent this year for the Yankees. However, he has still shown that when he is able to locate his pitches and avoid the long ball he can be an effective pitcher.

He’s already posted five 20+ DK point outings this season and today he faces the Rockies, a team that we know can struggle vs. left-handed pitching and is significantly worse offensively on the road. We also have the “Coors effect” in play here that I mentioned with Syndergaard yesterday and Degrom today and Happ has a changeup and curveball that could be difficult for the Rockies hitters to pick up.

Tyler Beede (6.2k) vs. New York Mets

If you haven’t been paying attention, Tyler Beede has really started to round into form lately. His start to the season was disastrous as he failed to get through three innings in each of his first three starts and was sent back down to AAA for a few weeks. But Beede is a talented young pitcher who is starting to figure it out as evidenced by his recent three-game stretch in which he’s allowed only 5 earned runs over his last 19 innings.

Walks were killing him early on in the year, but Beede has not walked a hitter in his last two starts and it’s no coincidence that he won both of those games and pitched deeper into those games than he had in any of his previous starts. He’s carrying a 21% K rate right now and has shown some great strikeout numbers in the minors. He should benefit from the big ballpark tonight and faces a Mets team that is average at best offensively.
