FanDuel MLB – Top Shortstops

Top Play: Francisco Lindor | CLE | $4,000

While I love Jose Ramirez tonight, I can’t quite put him above Francisco Lindor. On the season, Lindor has posted a 0.378 wOBA, 0.241 ISO and a 46.2% hard-contact rate against RHP and Junis has had his fair share of struggles against LHH (0.360 wOBA allowed).

On top of that, Junis primarily uses two pitches against lefties, the 4-seam fastball (FF) and the slider (SL). Against those pitches in particular, Lindor holds CXwOBAs of 0.383 (FF) and 0.398 (SL), while also recording a 0.281 ISO against the slider.

Value Play: Jonathan Villar | BAL | $2,800

The value plays at SS leave a lot to be desired, so I recommend spending your salary on Lindor (he’s not TOO hard to get, either), but if you insist on saving, Jonathan Villar comes with a ton of upside at the top of the Orioles order tonight.

His 0.330 wOBA against righties is right around league average, but he’s been effective at getting on base with an 11% walk rate. This play, however, is more about his matchup than anything.

Rick Porcello has been brutal this season, allowing a 0.367 wOBA and a 0.206 ISO against lefties this season with a dismal 14.8% strikeout rate and a 44.5% fly-ball rate. This gives Villar a boost in his power upside to go along with an immense amount of speed upside, making him a viable value play at the position.

Honorable Mention(s): Alex Bregman, Xander Bogaerts, Corey Seager
