Question 2: Submitted by Jake Darr- What Players should I target at the 12/13 turn in my fantasy league?
Answer: In my opinion, this is a tough question to answer because we can’t guarantee who will be there because certain factors can make players slip. So based on ADP, here’s who is expected to be drafted and we will go from there by me reviewing my top 2 best available after that.
Players who ADP suggest will be gone: Barkley, Elliott, Kamara, Mccaffrey, D.Johnson, Hopkins, Adams, Gordon, Bell, J.Jones, M.Thomas
Best Available: Mixon, Conner, Beckham, Smith-Schuster, Cook, Gurley, Kelce
Analysis: If I have pick 12, I’m not stoked because any of those 7 players listed above can have a case made for them. That means after you select your guys, 5 of them are going to drop to teams that have an earlier 1st round pick than you. It’s just not a great pick to have in 2019. Regardless, with the 12th pick this year, my plan would be to balance my team, because we have no clue who will fall back to you since you have to wait for 20+ picks to make your next selection. Here are the 2 players that I would go in this scenario:
Joe Mixon: When looking at RB’s left with Conner, Cook, Gurley, and Mixon, it’s clear Mixon has the least question marks around him. We’ve seen reports saying that Steelers could be more RBBC in 2019, Cook and Gurley are both studs but have health concerns. Mixon finished as the RB11 and only played 13 games last year. He leaves behind a boring Marvin Lewis offense and gets an exciting new HC in Zac Taylor. I’d be stoked to get Mixon with one of the B2B selections.
Odell Beckham Jr: with the B2B, I already have my RB in Joe Mixon, so now I need a WR to complete my balanced start. You see players like Juju and Kelce sitting here at pick 13 and it’s tempting for sure, but Beckham has the upside to be the WR1 in 2019, and I’m going to shoot for the stars with this pick. I think what intrigues me the most about Beckham is that he’s going from an Eli Manning-led offense to catching dimes and bullets from Baker Mayfield. That alone is huge in my opinion. We’ve seen Eli hold back for years, it’s time to see the ceiling for Beckham in 2019.
