MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Alec Mills  – Mills is a prospect that had been called up last game to replace the injured Cole Hamels. He did not disappoint, pitching six innings, getting six strikeouts, allowing three ER, scoring 31 FD points. The Giants are a worse team than the Reds, and he will get a massive park upgrade pitching away from Wrigley Field. In the small sample we have, what we can tell is he strikes out a lot of RHH, but gives up far less HC to LHH. It is very likely he will see more lefties in this game, but the only threats are Dickerson, and Belt.

Pitch Mix – Mills uses quite a wide range of pitches. The fastball is used the most at 40%, then the change, sinker, and slider all-around 20% of the time. His change got the most whiffs at 58%, which is strange considering he is a RHP, and those whiffs were primarily against RHH. I would need to see which way the ball breaks in order to really determine how that would make sense.

The slider, change, and Ssnker all get over 50% GB, which is great considering this is a GB heavy team. His pitchers are slow, but they move really well. The slider has 8 inches of movement, with the change having that odd reverse movement that would help against RHH. Overall I wish he was a tad cheaper, but he could be a viable SP2 option on DK depending on his price.
