FanDuel MLB – Top Shortstops

Top Play: Alex Bregman | HOU | $4,400

While his teammate Jose Altuve comes into an enticing spot against Homer Bailey, it’s easy to argue that Bregman’s spot is even better based on how he’s performed this season.

Overall, he’s posted a 0.398 wOBA and a 0.250 ISO against right-handed pitching this season while walking at an 18.6% rate and striking out at only a 12.1% clip. His 42.7% hard-contact rate comes in as icing on the cake against Bailey and his 44.5% hard-contact rate allowed to RHH this season.

Value Play: Didi Gregorious | NYY | $3,000

You’re going to want at least one piece of the Yankees offense tonight and due to the aces on the mound, it may be hard to fit the studs. While that may be the case, Didi comes in as a spectacular value to give you middle-of-the-order exposure at what should be low ownership due to losing the platoon advantage.

Surprisingly, Gregorious has had significantly more pop against lefties this season, posting a 0.207 ISO while striking out under 20% of the time. Martin Perez has held lefties in check for the most part but has still surrendered a 35.1% hard-contact rate to LHH, giving Didi enough upside to warrant his $3,000 price tag.
