Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Tier Picks: ($11,000+)

Dustin Johnson – $12,000 – (GPP)

So who is everyone going to trust at the top this week? I think that is the big dilemma. There is plenty of value to pay up for these guys as this almost feels like you can make almost anything you want to work here on FanDuel, but I think that means more than ever we have to look for some chalk pivots in certain spots.

For anyone who digs a little bit and believes in course history, the first instinct is to rush to Dustin Johnson here. Brooks Koepka just did well again in a major championship as he always seems to do, so according to himself, this is just a practice week for him. Rory McIlroy just completely crumbled on the very first hole in his backyard at Royal Portrush, carding an eight and while fighting back on Friday, still missed the cut.

Truthfully my first instinct was to fade all three, but in digging a bit further, there is more to DJ than just the course history here at TPC Southwind. Sure he has not been great over the last month, and his only win in 2019 was at the first WGC event of the year in Mexico, but it seems if he can just get it right with his irons he will be in good shape.

However, with this being a par 70, my thought is that we will see a lot more driver, wedge this week, and that issue with the irons may not even factor in on very many holes here. Johnson is the defending champion shooting 19-under par here last year, and while that alone makes him a tough fade for me, I also believe that he is just too good to struggle much longer.

I see no reason to pay up over $11K in cash games once again this week, and especially due to the fact that there is no cut. Some may argue the opposite way, but instead of going the stars and scrubs route, going balanced can allow you to try to find six golfers who you truly believe can top-five this event or even win it. With just 64 golfers in the field, one wrong play could be the difference this week. For cash games, my recommendation is to go as safe as possible with all six roster spots.
