Daily Fantasy Golf: FanDuel PGA – Top Value Picks (Below $9,000)

Tyrrell Hatton – $8,900 – (GPP)

Moving into the value range for this weeks WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, I am presented with a slight dilemma. I like a good bit of some of these golfers down in this range quite, way more than normal anyway, and I do not have much at the top end to pair them with. Roster construction will be huge for GPP’s this week, given it is a smaller field, and one strategy I will implore this week in MME, will be to leave significant amounts of salary on the table.

It is always a good idea not to spend your entire salary in tournament play, just to give yourself a slight edge over the masses. I am not saying I am going to leave more than $1000 in salary to waste here, but if I see a good grouping of golfers I like together, this could be the week to ignore the salary as much as possible.

Hatton has played really well since the Masters, and is another golfer I feel is vastly underpriced this week. All eyes will likely be on Andrew Putnam at this price point as he is also playing well and T-2 here last year, and that should make Hatton an ideal GPP pivot.

My initial take this week put Hatton at around $9,500 with Simpson and Louis Oosthuizen, so this price should open up a lot for me to make some lineups with Cantlay, Rahm, and Schauffele, just for an example. Hatton finished T-6 at the Open Championship last week and had not played competitively since his T-21 at the U.S. Open. I think you can do way worse for a lot more of your salary this week.

Chez Reavie – $8,700 – (GPP)

I love me some course history whenever I get this chance, and if I am going to give DJ a shot this week to break out of his funk, I might as well give Chez Reavie a good look here as well. Reavie missed the cut at the Open Championship by a stroke finishing 3-over par, and has now missed two cuts in a row. Prior to that though it is hard to forget he was on fire, tying for third at the U.S. Open, and following that up with his first win on the PGA tour since 2008 at the Travelers Championship.

The recent most form with the consecutive MC’s suggests the hot streak is over for Reavie, but I think playing here at TPC Southwind where he has had some good finishes at in the past may push him back in the right direction.

These, of course, were bigger, weaker fields here at past FedEx St. Jude Classics, but the experience and solid play here at TPC Southwind is all that really matters to me. Reavie shot 7-under par here last year and T-6, and was even better in 2017, finishing 8-under and finishing T-4. He did not play the event in 2016, and finished a respectable T-12 in 2015 at 6-under.

There are not a ton of golfers in this field who have played this course that well in the past or even have any experience here whatsoever. It’s not the biggest deal as these are the best in the world and they can get it done anywhere, but it is enough for me to give Reavie a slight bump this week, and give him some GPP love.
