Drew Gulak (c) vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
Our main event is one that had indie fans talking days in advance. New WWE signee, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, faced his former trainer, Drew Gulak. The man known by his nickname just debuted on NXT two weeks ago. Somewhat surprisingly, he lost in Round 1 of the Breakout Tournament to another new signee, Cameron Grimes.
Early into the match, there was an audible “NXT” chant. Vic Joseph mentions that Scott says Gulak took advantage of his students and beat them up a bit. Commentary also brings up that Scott spent eight years in the Army Reserve.
For fans that had never seen Swerve before, he definitely made an impression. He had a very innovative move involving the ropes that impressed commentary and Twitter.

At some point in the match, Swerve was injured and wrestled mostly with just one hand. The standout showing got both dueling chants and “This is awesome!” chants.
The Cruiserweight champion was victorious, but Scott went toe-to-toe with his former teacher.
