1.04 – Marquise Brown (WR – Baltimore Ravens)

Marquise Brown is an electric receiver from Oklahoma. The number one receiver for back to back number one overall picks in Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, Brown arguably has the most talent of any wide receiver in this draft class. The main knock against Brown, and the only reason he was not the consensus top receiver on draft boards, is that he came in at only 5’9 and 165 pounds at the NFL Combine.

Brown himself has promised he will be playing closer to 180 when the season starts. Brown is an electric home run hitter who posted 592 deep receiving yards in 2018, as well as 28 plays over 20 yards. Explosive both inside and out, Brown ranked fifth in the nation with 3.56 yards per route run and first in the nation with 7.45 yards per slot route run.

Brown will hit the ground running when he suits up for the Baltimore Ravens. He is recovering from offseason Lisfranc surgery, but that is not an impediment to his rising dynasty stock. Brown is penned in as the Ravens number one receiver and will be able to damage all over the field. More than just a go-route receiver, Brown can run the full route tree.

Many have soured on his dynasty stock due to the fact that he landed with Lamar Jackson as his quarterback. While he may have indeed seen his WR1 upside capped, he should still be a great to elite WR2 in dynasty. Lamar Jackson is a better quarterback than most have given him credit for and will get to prove it with a full offseason behind him in which the Ravens implemented a system tailored to his strengths as both a runner and passer.

Jackson’s number one receiver at Louisville ran most of the routes that Marquise Brown will be asked to run, and was productive enough to be signed by the Ravens as an UDFA. While it is true that any receiver that got drafted to Ravens was going to take a hit to their dynasty stock, it is Brown that has the skillset to prove both his and Jackson doubters wrong.
