1.08 – Kyler Murray (QB – Arizona Cardinals)

Kyler Murray appears to have landed in an ideal situation in Arizona. Going to a team with a rookie head coach that gushed about him while the two were both in the college ranks is almost a dream scenario. Kliff Kingsbury then went on to add three of the top fifteen (arguably top-10) wide receiver prospects in the class. He also added the tight end that led the nation in receiving yards. He capped it off by signing, arguably, a fourth top-20 wide receiver as an UDFA.

The buzz out of training camp via the NFL Network is that Murray has impressed. They have also reported that Kingsbury has tailored his offense to Kyler Murray’s strengths. The Arizona Cardinals now boast the most talented wide receiver room in football from one to six (or perhaps one to seven for a team that may play four wide as their base).

Kyler Murray looks to be in a position to become a fantasy star. Not only does he find himself in what is suddenly a loaded offense, but he is playing a system that is conducive to sustained statistical outbursts. A dual-threat quarterback with an arm generally only seen from quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Tom, Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning types, Murray is going to surprise a lot of people who have not had the chance to take in his college tape. Former baseball players have something special when it comes to touch and the ability to throw the deep ball. Something that all of the names listed above know very well.

A quarterback in the first round of dynasty rookie drafts is not something you often see in mock drafts, especially with the majority of leagues still starting only one QB. With that said, Murray’s upside is so high that you have to consider him anytime after the first three names go off of the board. The 1.01 in superflex formats, Murray could quickly become a top five option in dynasty leagues in this offense.
