Geronimo Allison vs. Equanimeous St. Brown vs. Marquez Valdes-Scantling

In this sports world of never-ending debates among friends and media, there’s been some discussion when it comes to where Packers’ wide receiver Davante Adams ranks among the best players at his position in the league.

There’s no doubt he’s come a long way in recent years. There was lots of potential flashed as a rookie in 2014 and injury and inconsistency issues one year later. But over the past three seasons, the five-year pro has played in 45 regular-season contests and has a combined 260 catches for 3,268 yards and 35 scores. In ’18, he totaled 111 receptions for 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns. Not a bad resume, to say the least.

So what about the surrounding cast? Randall Cobb is now a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Injuries limited him to 38 catches, 383 yards and two scores this past season. That reception and TD total was the same as 2018 fifth-round pick Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who racked up 581 yards through the air (15.3 average). Three-year pro Equanimeous St. Brown hauled in 21 passes for 328 yards (15.6 average) but never reached the end zone.

Meanwhile, Geronimo Allison started the team’s first four games but was around for only one of the Packers’ final 12 contests. He still finished with 20 receptions, good for 303 yards and a pair of TDs. Like Valdes-Scantling and St. Brown, he also averaged over 15 yards per grab. All should see substantial time this season. But Allison figures to be the frontrunner for starting duties and could be tough to supplant.
