MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Mid-Tier GPP Targets

Zach Plesac (7.7k FD, 7.3k DK) @ Kansas City

Plesac is perfectly boring most of the time, but at these prices, I’ll take boring all day as long as he can keep the Royals in check. I have a little concern targeting the same team in back to back starts, but the Royals offense can’t seem to do too much right these days and were only able to scratch out two runs against the Indians worst starter Adam Plutko last night.

Plesac seems to have made some adjustments to his arsenal since being demoted to AAA before the break and has pitched really well in two straight starts now.

The offense is finally clicking behind him and the Indians need him to give them six solid innings tonight. I like his win equity and a chance at a quality start tonight. He makes for a nice SP2 option on DK and a solid mid-tier GPP option on FanDuel.

Ryan Yarbrough (7.1k FD, 8k DK) @ Toronto

Yarbrough isn’t starting tonight, but he is projected to get the bulk of the work for Tampa here against the Jays. He’s in excellent form right now, as he’s pitched 6 innings in both of his most recent outings and allowed only one earned run combined.

In fact, in his last 6 appearances, he’s allowed only three earned runs total and that spans 27 innings. That’s pretty impressive, especially when you consider he struck out 24 batters over that span while walking just two.

The Jays can be pesky, but they are a great team to target for strikeouts as they are still striking out 23.5% of the time this year. Yarbrough will probably be more popular on Draftkings even though he’s more expensive over there simply because FanDuel won’t show him as a probable pitcher.

I like him on FanDuel a lot tonight and I think he’s a solid GPP option who has a great chance of picking up a win even in relief.
