MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Draftkings Value SP2

Jose Urquidy (5k DK) @ St. Louis

Urquidy is 7.5k on FanDuel and still probably in play over there, but this price on Draftkings is just silly. We’re looking at a really talented young pitcher here who is coming off a dynamic outing against Texas in which he struck out 9 over 7 innings.

He has a spectacular 30% K rate with only a 2% walk rate and while he was roughed up in his first two starts, we saw in this last outing how effective he can be.

The match-up is a relatively good one as St. Louis will send a bunch of righties to the plate tonight. They have been heating up offensively, but on the year are still a team that strikes out nearly 24% of the time and have been under-performing.

It’s not the safest spot by any means, but at 5k I think you lock in Jose as your SP2 on DK and hope he has his good stuff again tonight. If you fade him and he puts up 20+ DK points at this salary, you’re going to be well behind the field.
