Melvin Gordon holdout – Fantasy Context:

Keenan Allen/Mike Williams

Without Gordon in the lineup opposing defenders will be free to focus on shutting down the Chargers aerial attack. Allen and Williams may see a few more targets come their way with Gordon out of the lineup, but may be faced with tougher defensive looks with opponents having zero reasons to go heavy in the box. Allen and Williams will remain steady their positions as a WR1 and WR2 respectively but may see some of their big-play potential sapped in exchange for increased volume.

Philip Rivers

A consistent, yet underrated fantasy producer, Philip Rivers suffered little to no drop off during the games Gordon missed last season. His fantasy finishes: QB10, QB8, QB21, QB9. Rivers is criminally overlooked in fantasy football. He is currently the 15th QB off of the board based on consensus ADP, and is currently the 20th off of the board in Yahoo leagues. Rivers is a consistent QB1 level producer and will only benefit if the Chargers are forced to throw more with Melvin Gordon out of the lineup. Rivers is an ideal wait-on-a-QB target.
