Theo Riddick released: Fantasy context for 2019
By Raju Byfield
Kenny Golladay
Kenny Golladay will see an uptick in targets with Theo Riddick off of the roster. Golladay should see a massive spike in his overall target share after seeing just 20.8 percent of Matthew Stafford’s passes come his way in 2018. Golladay has theoretical WR1 upside at a WR2 price. An excellent target at his 4.10 ADP, Golladay is currently the 19th wide receiver off of the board in redraft leagues. Kenny G looks to have a monster fantasy season in store for his fantasy owners.

Marvin Jones
Theo Riddick’s release is good news for Marvin Jones. Jones looked set to see a reduction from his extrapolated 19.1-percent target share from 2018, and now may be looking at an increase. This is great news for the wide receiver who is currently the 37th wideout off of the board in redraft leagues. Jones has easy WR2 upside with what looks like a WR3 floor.
T.J. Hockenson
Similar to Marvin Jones, T.J. Hockenson appears to be a big winner here. With 74 more 2018 targets now vacated, Hockenson is in line for what could be exponentially more volume. He remains a TE1 but now possesses significantly more upside. Currently the 15th tight end off of the board in redraft leagues, Hockenson may rise above his current position as the 13th tight end off of the board based on fantasy football calculator data as the preseason progresses. Now an elite wait-on-a-tight end target, the rookie tight end could provide huge returns for fantasy owners willing to take the plunge on draft day.
Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford loses a trusted check-down target, but in return will gain a less predictable offense. As is often the case with teams who deploy a third-down/passing game back, offenses somewhat tip their hands as to what the offense may intend to do in regards to running or passing the ball based on who is in the game. Stafford will need to be more aggressive if he is to have bounce-back season, and losing a check-down target can help him become just that. Based on consensus ADP Stafford is currently the 23rd quarterback off of the board in redraft leagues, making him a solid late-round streaming or bye week filler option. He still has QB1 upside and makes a strong addition in round 14.
