Agreeing to May-Mac
By Cynthia Vespia
Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor had a huge impact on both MMA and professional boxing. After much speculation and teasing that the match would happen, UFC president Dana White revealed a deal was in place with McGregor. After Mayweather’s camp agreed, the May-Mac “world tour” was set with press conferences being held around the globe in anticipation of the blockbuster fight. White was there for all of it documenting the behind-the-scenes aspects of the tour on his Youtube video series. At one point during episode 5 in the series, White had to step in between Mayweather and McGregor as they faced off at the end of the press conference. After things settled down White can be heard saying: “that was not fun tonight.”
In the following episode, McGregor groped Mayweather’s head to which White had to remind McGregor there was no touching allowed. At the start of negotiations, Mayweather had some unflattering things to say about White but when the May-Mac tour rolled through Toronto, Canada Mayweather offered an official apology to White. The fight has since gone down in the history books and White is still seething over the PPV numbers released from Showtime.
