Fantasy Football Rankings: Top Five NFL DFS QB’s
Patrick Mahomes – I think it’s safe to say that Kansas City found something very special in Pat Mahomes. He has an almost unstoppable skill-set, between his rushing and scrambling ability, he also has a cannon for an arm, being able to throw the ball deep down the field and put it exactly where only his receivers can catch it. He ranks at the top of my QB plays coming into this season, and honestly, he is at the top of just about everyone’s rankings.
Last season, he ranked first in QBR at 81.6, throwing for 50 TD’s, 11 INT’s, and 4,910 yards. His DYAR was also first in the league with a huge gap between him and Drew Brees, at 2,039. Pat also had a 40.1% DVOA, which to put into perspective, the second was Brees at 36.8%, the next closest was Rivers at 27.3%, and those were the only three QB’s in the league above 20%. Sure Mahomes did get the awful secondary of Oakland on several occasions last season, which he put up some video game-like numbers, but to be quite honest, he is a video game type player. I should also mention his “Effective Yards” were at 5,980, just shy of 6,000, in which case only Big Ben and Matt Ryan got over 5,000 in that category.
Mahomes will be the first quarterback off the draft board in every standard league, and he will also start the season with the highest price tag. The days of Tom Brady being in a league of his own are long behind us, we are living in the era of something really special in Pat Mahomes. Expect him to be a recurring player in basically all of our articles here, especially since he is match-up proof, which means on some weeks he will draw really good defenses, dropping his ownership. Those weeks I can guarantee you he will be in my GPP article.
