FanDuel MLB – Top Shortstops

Top Play: Fernando Tatis Jr. | SDP | $4,100

This echoes the Machado blurb and no matter the format, I will try and get either Machado or Tatis in my lineup to have at least some Padres exposure against the Baltimore bullpen.

Tatis has posted a 0.410 wOBA and 0.259 ISO in his debut season, shattering any and all already-lofty expectations that were in place. His 37.4% hard-contact rate shows he’s hitting the ball hard and while he does have a propensity to strike out, the Baltimore bullpen will be like batting practice to a player of his caliber.

Value Play: Miguel Rojas | MIA | $2,600

The opportunity cost at the SS position today is rather high, so I would recommend going with either Tatis or Corey Seager, but if you insist on saving, Miguel Rojas continues to get it done atop the Marlins’ attempt at a serviceable lineup.

He’s posted three straight multi-hit efforts and has now gone yard in back-to-back outings. His advanced metrics don’t jump off the page at you (0.317 wOBA against RHP), but he’s a low-strikeout player (14.7%) that seemingly just gets on base. He’s a fine value if you absolutely need to save the salary.

Honorable Mention(s): Trevor Story, Corey Seager (also an elite cash game play)
