5 reasons Patriots can win the Super Bowl this year
1. Been there, done that
Even when the New England Patriots have not been at their best during the regular season – and that hasn’t been too often – the club is found a way to emerge with an NFL title. When you consider that the patriots have won an amazing six Super Bowl championships since 2001 and in three of those instances, the club had to go on the road to win the AFC title game, it shows you the resourcefulness of a club that knows how to get it done in crunch time.
This is a franchise that has reached four of the past five Super Sunday. They are currently only the third team during this era of champions to reach the “Big Game” at least three consecutive times. The Miami Dolphins first did it from 1971-73 and that run ended with a pair of titles. The Buffalo Bills turned the trick four straight years from 1990-93, although they failed in each of their attempts to win a Lombardy Trophy.
Of course, the Patriots have been able to keep the same head coach and same starting quarterback (for the most part) for nearly two decades. In fact, 2019 will mark the 20th season that Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will work together in Foxborough. The latter didn’t become a starter until his second season when Drew Bledsoe went down early in 2001. The rest is history and it is still being written.

The Patriots are the first team to reach the playoffs 10 straight years…and counting. For the record, the second-longest active postseason streak in that regard belongs to the Kansas City Chiefs (4). No franchise has won more postseason games (37) than this club – with 30 of those victories during the Belichick Era. Brady has played in a league-record 40 postseason games and his playoff numbers speak for themselves.
Pedigree.
