Power ranking the NFL offenses for 2019
21. Buffalo Bills
2018 Review: As a rookie, quarterback Josh Allen displayed his celebrated strong arm when give the opportunity. But he also wound up leading the team in rushing yards, something the organization and head coach Sean McDermott couldn’t be happy about. The bigger issue was the fact that the offensive line could not get the job done, which is why general manager Brandon Beane addressed this unit this offseason. All told, the Bills finished 30th in the league in total offense, next-to-last in passing yards and totaled only 28 offensive touchdowns.
2019 Key Additions: Speaking of that aforementioned front wall, the newcomers include center Mitch Morse, guards Spencer Long, Quinton Spain and Jon Feliciano and tackles LaAdrian Waddle, Ty Nsekhe and Cody Ford – the latter a second-round pick in April. As for the skill positions, the Bills added wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley, running backs Frank Gore and T.J. Yeldon and tight end Tyler Kroft. Talk about an overhaul?
Analysis: Allen’s talent is unquestioned and he showed his toughness and resiliency during his rookie year. With LeSean McCoy, Gore and Yeldon, the Bills have quite the mix of youth an experience in their stable of backs. But this won’t click unless that offensive front gels quickly and Beane has certainly put the pieces in place to make that happen. By the end of 2019, this attack could be a well-oiled machine. But first a little patience must be exercised.
