Power ranking the NFL offenses for 2019
19. Baltimore Ravens
2018 Review: Following a 4-5 start, Ravens’ rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson – who saw playing time in the first nine games – was inserted into the starting lineup in place of a hurting Joe Flacco. The offense would change dramatically, stressing the ground attack and the former University of Louisville standout had a big role in that. Baltimore finished second in the league in rushing and Jackson wound up with 695 yards on the ground and five scores. Willie Snead led the team in catches while rookie tight end Mark Andrews showed promise.
2019 Key Additions: Greg Roman was promoted to offensive coordinator and there’s a new lead running back in Mark Ingram (Saints). The pass-catching corps underwent a slew of changes as wideouts Michael Crabtree and John Brown and tight end Maxx Williams have all moved on for different reasons. Enter Seth Roberts and Michael Floyd and rookie wide receivers Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (1-Oklahoma) and Miles Boykin (3b-Notre Dame)
Analysis: With a full offseason to develop this offense, the Ravens could be an intriguing team on this side of the ball. But how much did the league’s other teams, especially the division-rival Browns and Ravens, learn from dealing with Jackson as a starting quarterback? And including last year’s home playoff loss to the Chargers, the young signal-caller fumbled a combined 15 times and lost five of those miscues in 17 outings. Concerns?
