Power ranking the NFL offenses for 2019
10. Chicago Bears
2018 Review: Mitch Trubisky improved greatly in his second year, hitting on 66.6 percent of his throws good for twice as many TD passes (24) as interceptions (12). He also ran for 421 yards and three scores. Jordan Howard was again the workhouse out of the backfield but running back Tarik Cohen led the club in catches (71). Wideouts Taylor Gabriel, Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller and tight end Trey Burton combined for 19 scores in their first year with the club. And a team that totaled 26 offensive TDs in 2017 finished with 44 such scores this past season.
2019 Key Additions: Pace wound up selecting just five players in April’s draft as the team did not have a first- or second-round choice. The team’s first pick was Iowa State running back David Montgomery in the third round. Combined with the veteran addition of Mike Davis (Seahawks) and the Bears have a nice stable in the backfield. Chicago also added versatile Cordarrelle Patterson in free agency and wideout Riley Ridley (4-Georgia) in April.
Analysis: It’s year two of the Nagy Era in the Windy City as well as season number three for the talented Trubisky. And given the improvement that the young signal-caller made this past season, you can expect more progress when it comes to the team’s offense overall. It will be a different kind of running game with Cohen as the main threat. The Bears also have very capable weapons at wide receiver and tight end and the offensive line is solid.
