Power ranking the NFL offenses for 2019
9. Cleveland Browns
2018 Review: Everything changed for this unit once quarterback Baker Mayfield came into the game late in the second quarter in Week 3 on a Thursday night against New York Jets. In 14 contests, he wound up throwing for 3,725 yards and an NFL rookie record 27 touchdown passes. Running back Nick Chubb also made his presence felt, running for 996 yards and eight scores during his debut season. Wide receiver Jarvis Landry and tight end David Njoku had solid years while 2018 fourth-round pick Antonio Callaway led the club with five touchdown receptions.
2019 Key Additions: General manager John Dorsey added a pair of explosive play-makers to this unit. The club acquired wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants and added running back Kareem Hunt. The latter was released by the Chiefs less than a year ago and will serve an eight-game suspension to start the season. Beckham has missed his share of playing time the past two years but his amazing numbers speaks volumes.
Analysis: It’s hard not to get excited about the prospects of this attack. Mayfield looks like the consummate gunslinger and leader on the field, while wideouts Beckham and Landry should have very productive years. Chubb showed down the stretch in ‘18 that he can be the main man out of the backfield. Add in Callaway, Njoku and wide receiver Rashard Higgins and this may be the team’s best offense since returning to the league in 1999.
