2018 Review: One year after leading the NFL in scoring, Sean McVay’s club finished second in the league with 527 points. Running back Todd Gurley played in just 14 games but finished fourth in the league with 1,831 yards from scrimmage and led the NFL with 21 TDs. Jared Goff threw for 32 scores (12 interceptions) and ran for a pair of touchdowns but was up-and-down in December and in the postseason. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp was missed late in the year while Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks totaled 80-plus receptions and 1,200-plus receiving yards.

2019 Key Additions: There’s a new backup quarterback for the defending conference champions in former Jaguars’ first-round pick Blake Bortles. Can McVay do his magic in fixing the erratic five-year veteran? The club appears to be very high on 2019 third-round pick Darrell Henderson (Memphis), who could have a big role if Gurley is indeed limited this season. Meanwhile, general manager Les Snead addressed the offensive line twice during April’s draft.

Analysis: The defending NFC champions’ attack took only a few hits in free agency, losing veteran guard Rodger Saffold (Titans) while allowing reserve running back C.J. Anderson (Lions) to test free agency. Obviously, the health of Gurley is somewhat concerning but it appears that McVay has a plan. Getting wide receiver Cooper Kupp back on the field would be a big help. The Rams need Goff to rebound following an erratic stretch run and postseason.
