5. Atlanta Falcons

2018 Review: Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan and company scored 414 points and the offensive unit reached the end zone 47 times. The 11-year pro threw for 4,924 yards and five times as many scores (35) as interceptions (7). With Devonta Freeman missing all but two games, Tevin Coleman led the club in rushing (800 yards) and finished with nine total touchdowns. Rookie Calvin Ridley (64 receptions, team-high 10 TDs) was a perfect complement to Julio Jones, who had another monster year with 113 catches and a league-high 1,677 receiving yards.

2019 Key Additions: This offseason was clearly all about fortifying the offensive line in Atlanta. General manager Thomas Dimitroff used the 14th overall pick in the draft on Boston College guard Chris Lindstrom. He then traded back into the first round to select tackle Kaleb McGary (Washington) at No. 31. And in free agency, the Falcons signed a slew of experienced guards in James Carpenter, versatile Jamon Brown, Adam Gettis and John Wetzel.

Analysis: Dirk Koetter is back in Atlanta running the offense. And it’s safe to say that this unit is arguably as good as any in the league. Ryan rebounded from a subpar 2017 and did his best to keep his team in the playoff race. A healthy Freeman makes an enormous difference to this group. And with the club bolstering its offensive front this offseason, the Falcons’ attack will be able to beat you in many ways. A very dangerous entity indeed.
