25. Carolina Panthers

2018 Review: Cam Newton was efficient early on. But the real highlight of this offense was second-year running back Christian McCaffrey. He finished with 1,098 yards on the ground, 867 yards through the air (on 107 receptions, most ever in a season by an NFL running back) and totaled a team-best 13 TDs. But Newton was not the same after injuring his shoulder in a Thursday night loss at Pittsburgh. All told, the Panthers scored 21-plus points in just three of their final eight games, a feat they managed six times during their 6-2 start.

2019 Key Additions: The franchise was fairly quiet in free agency, although the additions of center Matt Paradis (Broncos) and wide receiver Chris Hogan (Patriots) should help immediately. The Panthers also signed wideout Aldrick Robinson and used five of their seven draft choices in April on offense. Could second-round tackle Greg Little push for a starting job? And the selection of quarterback Will Grier (3-West Virginia) was very intriguing.

Analysis: Following offseason shoulder surgery, Newton is a full-go this summer and figures to be even more effective in his second year under offensive coordinator Norv Turner. While McCaffrey is obviously capable of big things and tight end Greg Olsen returns, does this team have enough firepower at wide receiver with D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, Jarius Wright and Hogan? More importantly, will Carolina’s offensive line be up to snuff?
