Whenever Kellen Moore first arrived at Boise State, the Broncos were already ascending to their status as the class of the non-Power 5 teams in college football. Moore came to town in 2007 — he redshirted that season — one year after the Broncos’ historic and unforgettable Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma. And while that may all be true, it was truly Moore that elevated the program to new heights.

After sitting out the 2007 season, Moore took over the starting job right away as a redshirt freshman and led Boise State to a 12-0 regular season, though they lost in the Poinsettia Bowl to TCU. Moore was a huge part of that as he threw for 3,486 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on the year.

Moore didn’t let up as a redshirt sophomore as he threw for 3,536 yards, 39 touchdowns and a remarkable three interceptions, leading the Broncos to a perfect 14-0 mark on the season, finishing as the fourth-ranked team in the country.

The dominance continued for Moore as he finished his career with back-to-back 12-1 seasons with the Broncos, in addition to top-10 final rankings. Furthermore, Moore threw for 3,845 yards, 35 touchdowns and six picks as a junior (he finished fourth in the Heisman voting) and followed that up with 3,800 yards, 43 touchdowns and nine interceptions as a senior.

In terms of winning and elevating a program, few have done what Moore was able to accomplish while at Boise State. And while his trophy case may be lacking, his place in football history is cemented.
