MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Jake Odorizzi – This is a really cheap price on Jake against the Marlins, who are notoriously bad against RHP. They hit 49% GB, striking out 21% of the time, with a .134 ISO. Those are god awful numbers, and we should always be trying to target Miami. If not paying up for Thor, this is going to be my favorite route to go. I do worry about his recent form, however, Odorizzi drew teams such as the NYY, OAK twice, Cleveland, and Tampa.

Pitch Mix – He is going to see mostly all RHH, he is fastball and slider heavy against righties, mixing in his sinker, cutter, curve, and splitter. The whiffs have been slightly down for Jake, especially on the slider where they were at 50% to start the season, and now sit at less than 10%. The curve got 33% whiffs in July, with the fastball, and sinker getting slightly over 20%.

The fastball, splitter, and curve got over 40% GB as well. The trends are a little strange considering his velocity has been increasing, however, the sinker did drop in vertical movement almost three inches. Either way, Miami struggles to hit even the worst of pitchers, and at this price, Jake is firmly in play.
