4. Antti Raanta, Arizona Coyotes

After posting a 2.24 goals against average and a .930 save percentage for the Arizona in 2017-18 (both second-best in the league), over 47 games (46 starts), a knee injury and Darcy Kuemper’s top-notch play (2.33 GAA, .925 save percentage) combined to limit Raanta to just 12 games last season.

A more even playing time split may be coming for the Coyotes next season, as Kuemper’s career resume suggests his level of play from last season is simply not sustainable. But if it proves to not be a fluke, then even if Raanta is healthy consistent playing time will be hard to come by.

Those 46 starts in 2017-18 are Raanta’s career-high over six NHL seasons. So there would be a question about how good he’d be with boost toward 60-plus games as a primary option between the pipes.

But New Jersey doesn’t necessarily need the second coming of Martin Brodeur, who never relinquished the crease for more than 10-12 games a season when healthy at his peak. A pairing of Raanta with Schneider may work well, as boring as it would be in light of the bigger moves the Devils have made this offseason.
